1980 mercedes-benz 450sl for sale 1980 mercedes-benz 450sl one-owner, california car w/37k miles. Please be patient while the many photos load. 1980 mercedes-benz 450sl roadster for sale in sonoma california. Purchased new locally in july of 1980 by a local physician in piedmont, california. The car has lived indoors it's entire life while at home as well as in the parking garage at the hospital where he worked. We purchased both the doctor and his wife's car from their estate from a heated garage where both sat unused for several years. We had the fuel system completely gone through to assure that it runs smoothly. Completed a safety inspection and installed a brand new set of tires. The engine is smooth and strong, suspension is tight along with the steering. The interior is in immaculate condition. Because the car was always indoors the wood, dash, rugs, panels all have been amazingly preserved. The car has no odors and the seating is firm and comfortable. All accessories are in working order and we will have the air conditioning system converted to r134a for it's new owner in the coming days. The top is immaculate and appears to be the original. The quality of the paintwork is nearly factory and very hard to spot. The car shows a long history of regular fluid changes and required services being completed at the local mercedes-benz dealerships, stead motors and claridges, ltd. It is detailed and ready to enjoy. The handling is incredible with the suspension recently upgraded with a front coil-over kit with 8" long x 400lb springs and helper springs installed in the upper perch; front Bilsteins, street adjustable camber plates and rear coil-over . Included documents show it was purchased new at Dreher-Holloway BMW on March 6th, 1987 for $59,840. Please be patient while the many photos load. As a lifelong car enthusiast and dealing in classics for over a dozen years, it's becoming more difficult every day to find original, well preserved and unmolested cars in such great shape. This 1941 buick eight personifies such a find. This car shows a little over 105k miles. While it's impossible to know if these miles are accurate, after years of being around these old cars it appears very likely. The car was delivered new in verde green and looks to have had a single repaint several years ago. The body is very straight and truly rust-free. The repaint is showing some age and patina but certainly looks presentable. The floors are sold and the undercarriage is in nice, solid shape. The interior appears mostly original with very little wear considering it's 76 years of life and mostly nice and intact. The car is quite comfortable. The gauges all light up and work as do the switches and accessories. The headliner is clean and has no tears. This fireball dyna flash eight starts; runs, shifts, and drives very nicely. The engine number 54147886, is stamped at the front, passenger side of the block. We do not know if the engine has ever been rebuilt but the oil pressure is strong and the car runs quietly. The dual carburetor system seems to be in good, working order as well. Expect some damp seals and mild leaking. Nothing serious, just typical for its age.
